Library Lesson: Comics & Movies!

There's been a lot of talk recently about the length of middle grade novels and how shorter novels might be developing a resurgence. I feel that the popularity of shorter books, specifically manga and comics, have always been in the limelight in the eyes of the students.  This week in library lessons I've been running a fun little programme for our younger students, particularly ones who might struggle to find a book or who find thicker books more intimidating.  I bring out to put on display a collection of comics and graphic novels. I do a series of short, 30-second book talks on four or five comics, all with bright visuals and lower amount of text.  I then ask if anyone has read anything, a comic or a book or a manga, anythiung at all, that they really loved.
