The Monash Branch of the NTEU voted to undertake 24hrs of strike action, beginning at midday on Wednesday 20 March and ceasing at midday on Thursday 21 March.
The decision to take part in strike action can be a difficult one, especially in the midst of a cost-of-living crisis. We want to do our best to ensure that no member is substantially worse off for participating in our industrial action.
However, if you face financial hardship as a result of engaging in this protected industrial action, you may apply for access to the NTEU Industrial Defence Fund. To qualify, you must be either sessionally employed, low-waged or experience demonstrable financial hardship as a result, and face a loss of 20% or more of your weekly income due to strike action. You must also participate in the collective actions (rallies and pickets) on each day.
Access to the fund remains at the discretion of the General Secretary of the NTEU, and is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Please note that the purpose of the fund is to provide income relief of up to 80%, not full income supplementation.
Please submit applications for access no later than COB Friday 5 April.
