Local councils key contacts on vertebrate pests and weeds related work questionnaire

Background

Many local councils (LCs) dedicate significant resources to managing established vertebrate pests and weeds in their local government areas. Information and knowledge about the extent of LCs' efforts to manage vertebrate pests and weeds across Australia is, however, not available to the larger public. The Australian Association of Bush Regenerators (AABR), the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES) and the Invasive Species Council (ISC) have respective research projects aiming to fill this knowledge gap via a series of online surveys.

To reduce survey burden on LCs, we have collaborated to develop an online survey that will address our research goals. The main purpose of this questionnaire is to obtain the contact details of someone in your local council who can complete a follow-up questionnaire on the following topics:
  1. data holdings on the distribution of vertebrate pests and weeds,
  2. involvement in studies on non-market environmental and social impacts of vertebrate pests and weeds,
  3. expenditures to manage vertebrate pests and weeds and their impacts,
  4. approaches and obstacles to invasive species and ecosystems management.
Our intention is to email a more detailed questionnaire in the future to those who you nominate this time.
