In October 2021 and May 2022, Aboriginal Affairs NSW hosted Aboriginal Business Roundtables to hear directly from Aboriginal businesses about what challenges they face to enter, grow and thrive in the NSW business sector. The NSW Roadmap for Aboriginal Business Growth takes what we heard at the Roundtables and transforms these ideas into concrete policy responses. It includes three pillars aligned with key themes from the Roundtable events: Strengthening accountability, Supporting businesses, and Recognising talent The Roadmap will complement existing work under Priority Reform Five by providing targeted support for Aboriginal businesses under each pillar

The Roadmap for Aboriginal Business Growth

The NSW Roadmap for Aboriginal Business Growth (available here) takes what we heard from Aboriginal businesses and stakeholders through extensive consultation and conversations and transforms these ideas into concrete policy responses.

The link above contains the current version of the NSW Roadmap for Aboriginal Business Growth and is current as of 16 June, 2023.

How we made the Roadmap

In October 2021 and May 2022, the NSW Minister for Aboriginal Affairs hosted Aboriginal Business Roundtables to hear directly from Aboriginal businesses about what challenges they face to enter, grow and thrive in the NSW business sector.

In December, at the final Aboriginal business event for 2022, the NSW Government released the Roadmap for Aboriginal Business Growth for public consultation.

A number of submissions were received, and further valuable feedback incorporated into the Roadmap.

What’s in the Roadmap

The NSW Government, in partnership with the Aboriginal business sector, is accelerating the sector’s prosperity with the release of the NSW Roadmap for Aboriginal Business Growth.

The Roadmap includes three pathways aligned with key themes from the Aboriginal Business Roundtable events:

Each pathway contains actions that will work together towards achieving the stated aims of each pathway.

In addition, the Roadmap will complement existing work under Priority Reform Five by providing targeted support for Aboriginal businesses under each pathway.
