2024 Premier's Awards in Energy and Mining

Recognising company, organisation and individual achievements in the South Australian energy and mining sectors.

Now in its 13th year the Premier's Awards in Energy and Mining showcase innovative approaches and technology, applaud leading practice, and acknowledge the delivery of exceptional leadership in South Australia, along with recognising the employment and business opportunities and the positive economic, social and environmental contribution these sectors make to South Australia.

The Department for Energy and Mining will soon be inviting nominations for the 2024 Premier's Awards in Energy and Mining.

This will be your company's opportunity to showcase your project that has delivered innovation, social, safety, community and environmental outcomes.

Why apply?

This is an opportunity for you to share your achievements with government, industry and the public. It is a chance to expand awareness of your program or project and set an example of excellence in corporate social responsibility and innovation.

Entering the awards provides you with an opportunity to:

  • demonstrate how your programs and projects have measurable and valued impact in the marketplace
  • receive recognition for business policies that aim to improve diversity and support communities
  • increase media and brand awareness
  • highlight your company or organisation's attractiveness as a potential employer or business partner
  • support the business case for more resources to be applied to projects of this type.

Winning organisations will be recognised for their performance and leadership in the energy, resources, and engineering, technology and services (ETS) sectors.

DEM will promote the achievements of winners and finalists through social media, websites, case studies and short videos. The winner of each award is given rights to use the award category logo on their website, social media platforms and marketing material.

Award categories

Individual sector awards

Nomination for these awards can be made in both the Resources categories and Energy categories (8 awards in total). If you are an ETS or METS company apply in the area in which your project or program most closely aligns.

  • Community and collaboration
    Recognising demonstrated excellence or innovation in working with communities to deliver positive outcomes or collaborating with others to showcase vision to bring opportunity and/or transitional change.
  • Environment
    Recognising demonstrated excellence in delivering positive environmental outcomes.
  • Productivity improvement
    Recognising a project or product that has improved efficiency, productivity or competitiveness.
  • Health and safety, inclusion and wellbeing
    Recognising demonstrated excellence in the development and/or implementation of an innovative solution to an identified work health and safety issue, including areas of mental health, inclusion and wellbeing.

Overall awards

  • Young achiever award (30 years of age or younger)
    Recognising the value, exceptional achievements and significant impact of inspirational and dedicated South Australians in the energy or resources sector aged 30 years or younger.
  • Young Indigenous achiever award (30 years of age or younger)
    Recognising the value, exceptional achievements and significant impact of those inspirational and dedicated South Australians in the energy or resources sector aged 30 years or younger.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the Premier’s Awards 2024, companies, organisations or individuals must meet the below criteria.

  1. Operate or work in any of the following sectors:
    – Energy (generation, transmission, distribution, retail, energy products and services)
    – Mining
    – Petroleum
    – Quarrying
    – Resource exploration, and/or
    – Engineering, technology and services (ETS).
  2. The company, organisation or individual must operate or work in South Australia, irrespective of ownership or headquarter location.
  3. Previously awarded projects will not be considered for another award in the same category, unless the applicant can demonstrate a significant difference and/or additional outcome has been achieved through the previous winning project or evolution of the project scope.
  4. Resubmission will only be allowed by agreement of the full judging panel in that category or division. The judge’s decision will be final and no other correspondence entered into.

Selection process

The Department for Energy and Mining (DEM) will administer and manage the selection process.

The judging panel will be made up of representatives from DEM along with those appointed government and industry sectors.

Each application will be assessed against the selection criteria and judged on individual merit, not as a competition between applicants. The size and resources of the company or organisation will be considered when assessing the merit of each application.

Small companies, and companies with small projects, are encouraged to apply.

The judging panel will make recommendations on the winning applicants to the Premier. The Premier’s decision is final.
