The VISIDA Project

Within low and lower-middle income countries (LLMIC), regular and comprehensive dietary assessment at the individual level is challenging due to resource intensive methods which rely on skilled research staff and observation. In these settings more frequent assessment of the adequacy of food and nutrient intake in the context of overall nutritional status is critical to ensuring that interventions target those most in need.

To address the issues with using current methods in LLMIC settings, this project will develop and evaluate an image-based dietary assessment method, called the VISIDA system, to measure individual-level dietary intake.
