Circular 22/23 Safety, Risk and Wellbeing Online Course for Office Bearers and Trustees available in May

Further to Circular 15/23, issued on 14 March 2023, the Safety, Risk and Wellbeing course for sub-Branch Office Bearers and Trustees will be released in May.

The online training program is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of sub-Branch Office Bearers and Trustees in managing the safety and wellbeing of themselves, and others when volunteering, working, socialising, or participating in sub-Branch-organised commemorations and activities.

ANZAC House has developed this state-wide online education and training program in support of Initiative 5.7 of the RSL NSW Strategic Plan.

The course topics cover the following with the aim to provide Office Bearers and Trustees with an understanding of:

  • Responsibilities and management of the safety and wellbeing of volunteers, employees, and themselves
  • Identifying hazards (physical and psychosocial) and limiting the risks they pose in the sub-Branch/workplace
  • The steps to take to assess and manage hazards should they arise
  • Keeping safety and wellbeing records.

The interactive training includes audio and visual content, along with relevant case studies to assist in the practical application of the training content within sub-Branches. The course concludes with a quiz and upon completion, participants can print a certificate for their records.

The course is hosted on an online training platform, managed, and custom-built exclusively for RSL NSW by Major Training Services.

A separate email with login details and detailed instructions on how to access the training will be sent directly to the personal email addresses of sub-Branch Office Bearers and Trustees. Please ensure the sub-Branch Portal has been updated to reflect any changes to Office Bearers as a result of the sub-Branch AGM and email the minutes of the meeting to support@rslnsw.org.au.

Please note, each sub-Branch Office Bearer is required to complete the training individually, therefore, the sub-Branch email address, or shared personal email addresses, cannot be used as training logins.

ANZAC House recognises sub-Branch Office Bearers are volunteers and as such, the training can be completed at their leisure. There is no deadline, and it is not required to be completed in a single session.

If your sub-Branch requires financial support to fund the IT equipment necessary to complete this training, please submit a request for financial support by completing the Support & Assistance Fund Application Form. If you require assistance to access the training platform, please contact your Member Support Team on 1300 679 775 or support@rslnsw.org.au.

For more information regarding this training program, please refer to Circular 41/22, Circular 10/23, and Circular 15/23.
