It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of Alumna, Ashlee Good. We express our deepest condolences to her family. May they find solace in cherished memories and draw strength from Ashlee’s spirit of courage. Ashlee graduated in 2003 and is fondly remembered as a bright, talented, boarding student with a deep passion for sports, particularly basketball. Her zest for life was truly inspiring. We keep her daughter, Harriet, in our thoughts and offer our prayers for her recovery. We hold in our prayers all who have lost their lives during this unimaginable tragedy and those recovering.

Loretta Wholley's journey in education is marked not only by her impressive career, and also by her commitment to creating nurturing and inclusive learning environments. Today our College community gathered for the annual International Women's Day Breakfast. Our 2024 theme urges us to 'Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress'. This event was dedicated to honouring women's achievements while highlighting the crucial need for inclusivity and progress This year our special guest was gastroenterologist and College alumna, Dr. Shamilah Lachal. We thank her for her wonderful and motivating speech, and her story was a true demonstration of courage and confidence. All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the Missions of the FCJ Sisters in the Philippines, particularly the FCJ Learning and Development Centre in Manila. This centre plays a pivotal role in empowering and assisting women through a range of initiatives, such as women’s leadership training programs, skills training, income generating projects and educational scholarships.

At our VCE Academic Awards Assembly, we celebrated the exceptional achievements of our High Achievers and our Class of 2023. Madelyn Bui, our College Dux, shared the highlights of her experience at Genazzano and ignited a sense of excitement for the year ahead. "My success in achieving College Dux was a cultivation of my efforts from the last 2 years and the support from my family, friends, and teachers especially. My journey here was filled with perseverance, self-discovery, and growth, which led me to stand here before you today. And for you all I hope during your journey to finding your successes you also embrace the trials and triumphs that accompany it, for it all makes the feeling of success that much sweeter." To commemorate our 135 Year Anniversary at Genazzano FCJ College, we are delighted to invite the classes of 1984, 1994, 2004, 2014 and 2019 to join us in celebrating your milestone reunions in 2024. The Reunion Garden Party will be on Saturday 16 March from 3.00pm to 5.00pm on Circular Drive. Each peer year group will have a separate designated area on Circular Drive to reunite, and celebrate 135 years of shared Genazzano history. Yesterday our College community gathered for the VCE Academic Awards Assembly, a momentous occasion as we welcomed back members of the Class of 2023. In this assembly we celebrated and acknowledged the remarkable achievements of our high performers, and we celebrated their dedication, hard work, and determination throughout their time at Genazzano FCJ College. Congratulations again to those students who achieved an ATAR of over 99, Madelyn Bui, Kathy Chang, Emily Kamel, Miranda McTigue, Fiona Pan, Chinan Yang and Katerina Lim. We wish the Class of 2023 all the best in their future endeavours.
