Mallee Track residents are being encouraged to share their thoughts, ideas and dreams for the future as development of five-year Community Plans for the Murrayville, Underbool and Walpeup townships continues.

Community Plans help lay out a shared vision for the future, focusing on community well-being and involvement, public facilities, town pride, education and safety.

They also help identify priority projects, key partners, community priorities and so much more.

Past Community Plans in these areas have helped deliver significant projects and initiatives, including memorial gates and commemorative plaques at Outen Park in Underbool, self-contained cabins at the Murrayville Caravan Park and restoration of the Walpeup Memorial Hall.

Councillor for Community Development and Gender Equality Helen Healy said community feedback and suggestions were vital to ensure these plans best represent the wants, needs and goals of Mallee Track residents and visitors going forward.

"There are numerous ways for people to have their say,” she said.

"While the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has unfortunately limited our ability to host face-to-face consultations, we have done a tremendous amount of work with reference groups and community leaders in these townships to date.

“Now we want to hear from the wider community and hear their ideas and opinions. The more people we hear from the better.”

Those interested can provide feedback in the following ways:

“I certainly encourage those interested to explore the different ways to contribute to these plans,” Cr Healy said.

“While we understand that people in our Mallee Track communities would prefer face-to-face consultation, we hope they will take advantage of the alternative ways to have their say, and help inform these important plans.”
