2022 NAIDOC Ball Design competition - deadline extended

UPDATE: Football West has extended the closing date to enter the 2022 NAIDOC Ball Design competition.

For the third straight year, Football West and our partner the Insurance Commission of Western Australia invite members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to enter a design to be printed onto footballs.

As well as the winning design, the Mitre footballs will carry the Insurance Commission's Belt Up road safety message.

These balls will then be distributed to clubs around WA as part of the 2022 NAIDOC Week celebrations, which will run between 3-10 July.

The winning artist will receive a $1000 sports equipment voucher and a set of 20 footballs featuring the design.

The closing date for the competition has been extended until 11.59pm on Friday 21 January 2022.

Terms and conditions

This campaign collateral is a reproduction of the 2021 winning NAIDOC Ball Design competition created by Kimberley-based artist Jarred Franey.

  • Football West wishes to acknowledge and celebrate the traditional owners of this land and the role they play in the football community.
  • NAIDOC Week celebrations are held throughout Australia in July to celebrate and acknowledge the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • The Insurance Commission’s aim is to raise awareness across all communities about the importance of wearing a seat belt. Its Belt Up road safety campaign has a key focus on regional WA, which is overrepresented in motor injury insurance claims, and specifically not wearing a seat belt.
