Tōtara Reserve Open Day

Tōtara Reserve is our only Regional Park in the Horizons Region. It is nested in the Pohangina Valley and is one of the best and most accessible examples of the diverse lowland forest that was once widespread in the Horizons Region. The Reserve covers 340 ha of native forest and offers a wide range of attractions, including walking tracks, swimming holes, an adventure playground, and an abundance of native plants and wildlife.

Tōtara Reserve felt the effects of Cyclone Gabrielle and has been closed since February.

Come along to this free family friendly event to learn about all things Tōtara Reserve. Explore stalls with fun interactive activities and a FREE sausage sizzle.

We are offering a free bus ride to and from the reserve so register to secure your spot and make sure to select the correct departure point.

Buses will depart as follows:

Palmerston North from Horizons Regional Council, 15 Victoria Ave at 9.30am
Feilding from Railway Station at 9.45am
Ashhurst from Plunket Room, 63 Cambridge Ave at 9.50am

Buses will depart Tōtara Reserve Regional Park at 1.30pm for those travelling back to Palmerston North and 1.45pm to Feilding.

Bus takes approx. 1hour from Palmerston North and 45 mins from Feilding return.
