Celebrating the history of Catholic Education

This website pays tribute to the significant milestones reached in Catholic education.

With 2020 marking 175 years since the first Catholic school was established in Brisbane, Queensland, we started a campaign to share the stories of our 313 Catholic schools.

We also celebrated 200 years of Australian Catholic education in 2021 and in 2022 we look forward to sharing the many more stories and achievements the year will bring.

Foundations of Catholic Education

This year, Queensland Catholic education welcomes four new schools, Holy Spirit College, Fitzgibbon, Star of the Sea School, Merrimac, Newman Catholic College, Smithfield and Catherine McAuley College, Mackay.

Holy Spirit College and Star of the Sea School are both operated by Brisbane Catholic Education, while Newman Catholic College falls within the Diocese of Cairns and Catherine McAuley College belongs to the Diocese of Rockhampton.

The addition of these four new schools brings the total number of Queensland Catholic schools to 313.
