About this event

While there will be expert supervision on the day, we ask that everyone who registers and attends a Dig Day rides a mountain bike or has an understanding of mountain bike and walking tracks.

Trackcare involves physical work, including digging, moving rocks and carrying buckets, so come prepared to expend a bit of energy (though we won’t ask you to do anything beyond your limits, and there are a range of tasks that you can get involved with).

August's Trackcare Dig Day unfortunately had to be cancelled due to heavy rain, so for September the details of August's activity remain the same. Volunteers will continue the great work done so far on the Yellow Hippo mountain bike track at the back of Knocklofty Reserve.

Volunteers will be working in small teams to bring this descent track up to international mountain bike track standards.

This will be tight, focused work, with plenty of scope for volunteers to ramp up their track building skills.

If you'd like to attend half of the working bee (2.5 hours), click on the morning or afternoon option. If you'd like to attend the whole 5 hour working bee please register for BOTH the morning and afternoon slots.

Find out more about the City's Trackcare program on our website.

See map below for meeting point or look on Google maps. Park at Mount Stuart lookout or Forest Road car park and walk to the meeting point.

Please note:

  • Registrations are essential to limit the spread of coronavirus in Tasmania and help us work safely.
  • Please wear sturdy closed-in shoes, long pants, long sleeved shirt, hat and warm clothes, and bring enough drinking water and snacks for the duration of the activity.
