The Ultimate Hamptons Winner is….
Drum roll please… join us in congratulating our 2021 Coral Homes x James Hardie Ultimate Hamptons Competition Winners…. Kim Nguyen and Desmond Leong!
Desmond and Kim built a Monash 32 MKII with Hamptons facade and were our very first monthly winner back in October 2020.
A year later, their quintessential Hamptons-inspired home, featuring James Hardie linear weatherboard cladding on the exterior, and a calming white-on-white colour scheme with James Hardie VJ paneling, internally, has taken out the ultimate prize!
“Oh, it’s crazy. It’s so surreal. I still can’t believe it,” says Kim, about being crowned the Coral Homes and James Hardie Hamptons Competition Ultimate Winner.
“There were so many good entrants in it, we didn’t think we were going to win,” Desmond says of their Queensland home.
“But it’s amazing knowing that, I guess people appreciate our style. They love what we did to it.”
Recounting their build journey with Coral Homes which started a couple of years ago, Kim admits she wasn’t totally convinced to build new.
“{Desmond} wanted to build. And I wanted to buy an established home,” she says. “I was so nervous about the building process. I thought it would be way too stressful, but we gave it a shot.”
From the moment they set foot in the Monash 32 MKII Display Home at Foreshore Coomera Estate, it was a done deal.
“Oh, we just fell head over heels! It was perfect,” Kim says.
The four-bedroom, 2.5 bathroom and four living area home ticked all the boxes for Desmond and Kim and there was no turning back.
“I don’t think we really knew what style we were going for until we saw the Hamptons facade and the Hampton styling, and it was stunning. It was effortless. I feel like it really fits in with the Australian styling here, and brings that coastal vibe that we like,” Kim says.
Desmond agrees the floorplan of the spacious double-storey home was also very appealing, especially as they love to entertain.
“We’ve had heaps of parties since we’ve moved in. We love entertaining our friends and family. So the whole layout, and that kind of indoor-outdoor feel was just perfect for us,” he says.
“We had our first Christmas last year and it was amazing. This year, I think it will be good again, but I think Kim wants to put up another tree. We had two last year, so we’ll have three this year,” Desmond says with a laugh.
“I love Christmas. It’s my favourite time of the year. And to be honest, it was like a dream come true. Being able to host our family and make it a really beautiful experience for everyone,” Kim says.
“We lived in an apartment before this, so we didn’t have a lot of space to entertain, but this is why we built this house. It has so much space for all our friends and family. And it’s been amazing.”
For those people considering building new with Coral Homes, Desmond and Kim encourage them to follow their dreams.
“Our journey with Coral Homes has been amazing from the start! We had the sales consultant, who was very thorough with us. She explained the whole process. She made it very easy for us,” Desmond recalls.
“I think if people are thinking about building, then just jump in and give it a go because it’s so much fun. It’s so exciting,” says Kim. “It’s the whole experience of seeing your dreams come true right before your eyes! It’s incredible and you get to choose every single little detail that you want and to finally be able to live in it, it’s surreal.”
The couple have opted for the $10,000 Harvey Norman voucher as their ultimate prize of choice.
“We’re still yet to furnish half of our house, so it’ll be really helpful,” Kim says with a laugh.
