Instrumental Music Tuition 2024
Dear Parents and Carers,

It is with great pleasure that we invite your child to join the Boroondara Park Primary School instrumental program. Our instrumental teachers visit the school and provide high quality tuition. A number of students have already been enjoying individual lessons in recent years. For 2024 we will continue to provide tuition and each instrumental teacher will adhere to the guidelines outlined by the Department of Education and Training for sessional music.

We are pleased to offer the following instruments:

Guitar, Electric Bass, Drums, Flute, Saxophone, Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass.

Primary School is an excellent time to begin to learn a musical instrument. It prepares students to be able to enjoy participating in solo and ensemble performance activities as well as providing them with the skill level necessary to continue this involvement into secondary school. Learning an instrument also develops social, concentration and thinking skills while enhancing artistic appreciation.

Due to the large demand and nature of some instruments there are certain requirements:
Students wanting to learn saxophone or flute will need to be in Grade 3 or above and will need to provide their instrument (we can suggest hiring one if you do not want to purchase an instrument)
Students from any age wanting to learn piano will  need to have a full-sized 88 keys digital or acoustic piano at home to practice on.  If you don’t own one of these we can suggest hiring one if you do not want to purchase an instrument)
Students wanting to learn violin, viola, cello or double bass are welcome to their learning with Trent Bunston Strings. Students learning either of these instruments will need to buy or rent a violin, viola, cello or double bass and parents should check with Trent before getting one so she can discuss the correct size instrument for your child.
Students wanting to learn guitar, electric bass and drums are welcome to start in the earlier grades and do not need parents present.  These students will need to provide their instrument (we can suggest hiring one if you do not want to purchase an instrument)

If your child is interested in taking up an instrument in 2024, can you indicate on the form below, including your preference and contact details. The associated instrumental teacher will be in touch with you at the beginning of next year.

NB. Please do not fill in the form if your child is already having instrumental lessons at school this year – your teacher will contact you to organise the continuation of lessons for 2023.

We understand it can be challenging for parents to organise weekly lessons out of school hours so to have this option available for those students who wish to foster their love of music is much more convenient.
