Project Information

The purpose of this consultation was to seek the community’s feedback on the amendment to the Community Land Management Plan and a lease for a term longer than 5 years for the Hilton Hotel site located on community land at 221-237 Victoria Square, Adelaide.


Background 

Council is required to prepare and adopt a Community Land Management Plan for community land under its ownership. This is a requirement pursuant to Section 196 of the Local Government Act 1999 (SA). 

The Corporation of the City of Adelaide owns the community land parcels Allotment 11 Filed Plan 112202, Allotments 1 and 2 Filed Plan 11611, Certificates of Title Volume 6135 Folio 747, Volume 6135 Folio 746 and Volume 6135 Folio 748 (the Land). 

The Land known as the Hilton Hotel site is situated on the corner of Victoria Square and Grote Street (south-western corner) located at 221-237 Victoria Square, Adelaide. 

At its meeting held on 12 December 2023, Council authorised the administration to proceed with public consultation on the amendment of the Community Land Management Plan and a lease with a term longer than 5 years. 

The proposed Community Land Management Plan incorporates an amendment to the lease term to expire on 6 November 2121. 

The City of Adelaide is seeking feedback on:

  • The proposed amendment to the Community Land Management Plan – Hilton Hotel site
  • A lease for a term longer than 5 years to 233 Victoria Square Hotel Pty Ltd for the operation of an Upper Upscale Hotel 

The Community Land parcels are identified as Allotment 11 Filed Plan 112202, Allotments 1 and 2 Filed Plan 11611. The Certificates of Title are Volume 6135 Folio 747, Volume 6135 Folio 746 and Volume 6135 Folio 748.

What happens next?

Feedback from the public consultation process will be collated and presented in a report to Council in May 2024 and will assist Council in its deliberations associated with the amendment of the Community Land Management Plan and a lease for a term longer than 5 years to 233 Victoria Square Hotel Pty Ltd.

We will inform adjacent property owners and entities who made submissions of the outcome of the Council decision.
