Dear Families,
We are already nearing the end of Week 4 (but only because the Department of Education count Friday 27th Jan as Week 1 😊). This is a good chance for some reminders for students and families.
Well done to all our Grade 3 to 6 students who competed at our District Swim Trials last Friday. I have had some great feedback about the effort and behaviour of our swimmers. Good luck to our swimmers who are off to Division Swimming on February 27th. A huge thank you to Jen Driessen for all her work organising the event.
A few things from me this week...
Road Crossings
Could families whose children walk or ride to school please have a conversation about using the crossings safely on the way to and from school? We had a member of the community come into the front office last week to tell us about some students who ran across the street in front of her car without looking.
Arriving at School
Students are not to arrive at school before 8:30am. The yard is supervised by teachers from 8:30am and the time before that is important for staff to prepare for the day. If students arrive before 8:30am, they will be asked to sit in the front office and families will be called as a reminder.
School Attendance
School attendance is very important. If students are not attending school, we are not able to support them with their learning. Our aim is to have every student at school every day.
Please consider the educational and social impact of planning holidays during term time. If you do need to take a family holiday during term time, contact your classroom teacher so that they can support your child in their learning while they are away.
Swimming
Jen Driessen sent a message home last week about swimming lessons and the school swimming carnival. Unfortunately, due to staffing issues, we will not be able to run either of these events until Term 4.
School Council Elections
Nominations for the Mansfield Primary School Council are held each year. Council has 8 parent members, 5 staff members and 2 community members. The term for each member is 2 years. Meetings are held twice a term on a Monday evening and members join a subcommittee or working group. The school council works with the school to directly influence the quality of education that the school provides for its students.
This year we are seeking nominations for 5 parent members. Nomination forms will be available at the office from Monday. If you have any questions, or would like further information, please contact me tom.macmunn@education.vic.gov.au or the school office.

Please take time to read our school’s collection notice, found on our website mansfieldps.vic.edu.au
We ask parents to also review the guidance we provide on how we use Microsoft 365 safely at the school and what parents can do to further protect their child’s information. If after reviewing the guidance, you have any questions or concerns regarding your child using Microsoft 365 please contact the school.

Like always, please get in touch with us with any questions or concerns. Call or email your classroom teacher, call the front office or email me tom.macmunn@education.vic.gov.au.
Have a lovely weekend.
Take Care,
