Poverty, the Indue Card & Women's Rights

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

The Cashless Debit Card, also known as the Indue Card, has been forced onto Australians as a 'trial'. The plan is for all Australians who receive government benefits to be placed on them, including those on the pension. There are pensioners who are already on the Indue Card in trial areas.

Join Professor Shirley Randell in conversation with Amanda and Kathryn from the advocacy group, NCDCA - No Cashless Debit Card Australia, to find out the answers to the following questions and more:

  • What is the difference between the debit card, and the cashless debit card?
  • Does the cashless debit card stop people from drinking and gambling?
  • Do we have to get permission to buy a bra when we are on the cashless debit card?
  • How does the cashless debit card erode women’s rights?
  • Does the Indue Card lead to more violence against women?
  • What does life on the Indue Card look like?

This webinar is aimed at raising awareness of how the Indue Card impacts everyone who will receive government payments in the future.

This is OWN NSW's official 2021 Anti-Poverty Week event, organised in conjunction with NCDCA - No Cashless Debit Card Australia.
