Rural Support Trust - Supporting rural people through tough times

Nationwide

Your Rural Support Trust is always available in "peacetime" to help you out with chats, guidance, referrals and direction to professionals if needed.

If more than a cup of tea and a yarn is needed, we can connect with the professionals who can provide further support, including farming or business advice, financial information, health, mental health and counselling services.

Most Trusts have facilitators trained in mental wellness support and many also run workshops for Rural Professionals. Get in touch and ask about Good Yarn workshops in your area.

In a natural disaster, such as a storm or flood, your local Rural Support Trust is right here alongside you, working with Civil Defence, government and emergency services on behalf of our rural communities.

We can also walk alongside you in other challenges, such as the Mycoplasma bovis biosecurity response or when you're feeling financial pressure.

Cyclone Gabrielle - please do not donate goods, instead donate directly to our relief fund for farmers and growers.  18 February 2023

Civil Defence Emergency Management Groups, Federated Farmers and ourselves, the Rural Support Trust, are asking people to NOT donate goods and instead donate directly to relief funds.

Please - do not show up with donated goods such as blankets, food, clothing or stock feed ⚠

We know that donating goods seems like the right thing to do but often the donations don’t match what farmer, growers and communities need. It’s amazing to see how much aroha is going out to affected communities across New Zealand so let’s make sure that none of that compassion goes to waste.

Monetary donations are the most useful way to support affected rural communities as it means organisations can provide what is really needed to those affected.

Money donated via this page will go DIRECTLY to farmers and growers when it is required.
