Hatrick Chickpea BLAST Portal

PBA HatTrick (Jimbour X ICC14903) is a high-yielding desi variety of chickpea developed by Pulse Breeding Australia and released in 2009. It is adapted to the Australian growing environment, with moderate levels of resistance to both ascochyta blight and phytophthora root rot. It is a common parent for bi-parental and mutant populations generated for recent research projects (Khoo et al. 2021; Croser et al. 2021), as well as for several newer Australian desi varietal releases, including PBA Seamer and PBA Drummond.

This assembly improves on early chickpea reference genomes created with short-read sequence data for Indian (desi) and Canadian (kabuli) genotypes, and is a valuable and relevant resource for chickpea pre-breeding research in Australia.
