Sapphire is regularly updated as part of NHMRC’s effort to continuously improve the user experience of our grant management system.
March 2024 - Multi-Factor Authentication
In December 2023 NHMRC implemented mandatory Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in Sapphire to meet Australian cyber security standards.
Sapphire is only accessible if MFA is setup, please ensure MFA is in place at least a week prior to applying for any Grant Opportunities.

Important:
- Sapphire MFA is only compatible with the Microsoft or Google Authenticator apps which are free of application fees.
- When setting up MFA make sure to scan the QR code through the compatible Authenticator app and not directly from your camera.
