Our team have tried to keep changes that impact our members to a minimum and will be available throughout the transition and launch of the new Flexicar App for any support.

Prepaid Credit Notice

As we work to migrate across to a new system, there will be some changes to your pre-paid credit during this time.

You’ll still be able to use the app and book vehicles as usual, just without the monthly charge.

Your available credit as of 8th of March will be transferred across to the new platform, regardless of your usage in March. Regular pre-paid credit charges and processes will commence March 15th.

What are the new benefits coming to the Flexicar app?

The new Flexicar app will be simpler to use and more intuitive. You will be able to do more things through the app like unlocking the vehicle, view the location of vehicles, manage your account, queries, and so much more. Offering you greater freedom and flexibility!

What are some of the key features of the Flexicar app?

Key features of the Flexicar app you can enjoy include:

Fast in-app registrations and ID verification. New account set-up will on average take less than five minutes through the app

Simplified and streamlined booking process including the ability to filter your favourite vehicle types

Lock and unlock your vehicle with your smartphone

Streamlined member feedback functionality to further enhance your experience and satisfaction

View live location of vehicles pre-booking (excluding during booked periods)

View the availability of vehicles outside your search

I use the current Flexicar app, what do I need to know?

You will need to download the new app in 2023, but don’t worry you won’t need to re-register or verify your details, just simply enter the email address linked to your Flexicar account, request a password reset and once logged in update your credit card details. Once completed you’ll be ready to hit the road with Flexicar

You may notice some differences in the app, like using the app to unlock and lock your vehicle and reporting any damages before you drive. We’ve developed this new streamlined functionality to offer you the best car sharing experience.

Why is this happening?

We really value the feedback we receive from our members, it truly shapes our direction and guides where we invest for improvements. Many of our members have been expressing the need for a straightforward mobile and web app that makes being a member simple and collecting a Flexicar easy, so our team have worked hard to create a Flexicar app that meets those needs. This is a big innovation for Flexicar that will enable our community to enjoy a faster, more digital car share experience.

Will the Flexicar app be available on Android and iOS devices?

Yes, you will be able to download the new Flexicar app from the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store, and use it on both Android and iOS devices. A web version will also still be available.

How will this change benefit me?

The new Flexicar app will simplify and streamline the user experience for our members, so you can spend more time on the road in your Flexicar with all the information and support you need at your fingertips. The Flexicar app will be your go-to for bookings, account management, customer support and more, plus you’ll be able to connect to Velocity to earn points as you drive with Flexicar.

Do I have to do anything?

We will notify you when the new system is live. All you will need to do in update your Flexicar App, or download it. On your first log in you will need to set up a new password and add your credit card to your profile.

How do I contact Flexicar during this time?

We will still offer the same support via email and phone during the transition.

Will this affect my current or upcoming bookings?

Bookings throughout February and March will not be affected, if you come across any issues, please contact our team for assistance.

There may be some changes to fleet availability in March, this should not impact any confirmed bookings.

How will my data be securely transferred to the new platform?

All data we transfer will be encrypted using https or secured protocols

Can I still access the car 15 mins before the start of hire?

If your Flexicar is available you will be able to access it 5 minutes before your booking start time to complete your pre-trip check.

Can I still see my booking history/ invoices?

No. If you require any historical data you can contact our team who will be able to provide it for you.

Can you still only hire up to 5 days?

Yes. There will be no change to the 1 hour minimum and 5 day maximum booking duration.

Do I still have to give 4 hours notice when cancelling my booking?

Yes. There will be no change to the cancellation fee policy.

How do I contact Flexicar during this time?

We will still offer the same support via email and phone during the transition.

How will my data be securely transferred to the new platform?

All data we transfer will be encrypted using https or secured protocols

What changes are being made?

There are a number of positive changes that are being made, some are:
- Filter by vehicle type when making a booking
- Lock and unlock your Flexicar with your mobile app
- A friendlier and easy to use interface
- In-app reporting - no need to call to report damage or parking issues
- Business accounts will have the ability to set booking parameters for drivers and visibility on their colleagues bookings

How do I lock/unlock and start my vehicle?

The Flexicar mobile app will be your keys! When you arrive at the vehicle, switch on your bluetooth and follow the prompts in the Flexicar app to start your booking. Throughout your booking you must use the Flexicar app to lock and unlock your vehicle. Most of our cars will no longer have physical keys and once you have unlocked the doors using the app just push the Start button inside the vehicle. If your vehicle is not a push to start vehicle the physical key will be present in the vehicle to start the ignition but you still need to use your mobile app to lock and unlock the doors.

Will there be any delays during this time ?

This is a very large transition and we can’t promise that there won’t be some teething issues but we will do our best to minimise any downtime. You may notice some limited availability of vehicles in the first 2 weeks while we bring in a fresh new fleet!

Will there be new car locations?

Flexicar’s day to day operations will be running as normal so any new locations will occur at any time and we will notify members as it happens.

Will this affect my current upcoming bookings?

If you already have a booking confirmed after our go live date our team will be in touch.

Will I lose my current driving credit?

No. We will migrate any valid credit over to the new platform.

Why do I need to use Bluetooth? Does it need to be on throughout my whole booking?

Bluetooth is a much faster and stable method to access our vehicles. The vehicles also work with your standard mobile network coverage which you are welcome to use as an alternative, but we strongly recommend the use of Bluetooth especially in areas with poor network coverage.

Your Bluetooth connection only needs to be switched on when locking and unlocking the vehicle, you can switch it on and off as you need.

My Flexicar has a physical key present. Why do I still need to use the mobile app to lock and unlock the doors?

In addition to the mobile app locking and unlocking the doors it also triggers the immobilizer to secure our vehicle which is why we require the mobile app to be used even with the keys in the car. We will also eventually be moving to a full fleet of Push to Start vehicles and want our members to get in the habit of securing the vehicles this way.

What if I have no mobile data available?

You will need mobile data or a WiFi connection to access all the mobile app features. If you don’t have mobile data available, you will have limited access in ‘offline mode’ and still be able to start your current booking and lock and unlock the vehicle.

What happens if I am in an area with no mobile network coverage?

No problem! It is one of the main reasons why we have the Bluetooth access. If you are in an area with no coverage at any point throughout your booking the Flexicar mobile app will switch to ‘offline mode’ and allow you to still lock and unlock your vehicle using Bluetooth. Note that offline mode is only available for active bookings, so you won’t be able to create new bookings or any account management through the mobile app without mobile data or a WiFi connection.

I have a family account, will this be affected by the new app?

For our Family Plan members, your membership will automatically be transferred over to a Flexi Sometimes plan under your own name. All other nominated drivers from your Family Account will also be transitioned to their own personal Flexi Sometimes plans. There is nothing you have to do, this will be done by our Flexicar Member Care Team to ensure an easy transition for you.

Drivers on the Flexi Sometimes plan will just need to add their chosen payment method into the new app before booking a vehicle.

Will I lose my current driving credit?

No, your credit will transition to your profile in the new Flexicar App.

Will I still be able to purchase and use a Flexicard?

No. All of our vehicles will be accessed via the Flexicar mobile app.

What does this mean for members who still have Flexicard entry cards?

If you have a Flexicard you can dispose of it safely or send it back to us in the post.

Will I still receive a pin code to start my booking?

No. All of our vehicles will be accessed via the Flexicar mobile app.

I don’t want to continue my membership how do I cancel?

You can cancel your membership at any time by logging in to your account.

Business members

What are the new features for Flexicar Business?

Business Account members will have greater visibility and flexibility across the app. The new features include:

  • New registrations and ID verification is faster. Register new members in under 5 minutes!

  • Drivers can access vehicles through the mobile app to lock and unlock their vehicles

  • Book vehicles across Australia & New Zealand with your one existing account

  • Business Account Managers will be able to set preferences for drivers including days and hours for bookings (i.e. excluding weekends), vehicles available to book and ask employees to assign cost centre/department details at time of booking

  • Drivers in the Business will be able to see if an unavailable vehicle has been booked by someone else in the business

  • Business drivers who also have a personal Flexicar membership will be charged the business rate when booking for personal use

  • Business drivers can earn Velocity Points when booking and using a vehicle

  • Unlimited employee profiles within a Business account
