Program purpose:

The program aims to

  • provide training for 150 Agriculture workers in north west Tasmania
  • provide expertise and advice on Vocational Education and Training (VET) to the agriculture industry and
  • support a culture of training in the agriculture industry in north west Tasmania.

The North West Agriculture Skills Delivery Grant program provides $150 000 to deliver subsidised training to the agriculture industry over two years. Industry support to access this training subsidy will be provided by RTV Training.

RTV Training will:

  • work with individual business to identify and recommend effective training opportunities for the current workforce including skill sets, apprenticeships, traineeships and bespoke training as required
  • facilitate increased participation in nationally recognised or non-nationally recognised training for the north west agriculture workforce
  • assist business to develop training and career pathways addressing their current and future workforce needs
  • support the sector more broadly in upskilling its workforce and developing a culture of training and
  • administer and manage a training fund.

To be eligible for the training subsidy businesses must be:

  1. Employers that have a physical base and worksite in north west Tasmania.
  2. Employers that are agriculture and agriculture services businesses.
  3. Employers with fewer than 20 current employees (FTEs*) that can make a financial co-contribution of 10% of the training cost for workers,

    or
  4. Employers that have more than 20 current employees (FTEs*) that can make a financial co-contribution of 20% of the training cost for workers.
