Get ready to celebrate World Environment Day with celebrity gardener Costa Georgiadis, host of ABC Gardening Australia, as he teams up with Ranger Stacey for an interactive Q&A session, sharing their energy and passion for the environment. 

Costa will stay on to share his knowledge and enthusiasm presenting a gardening workshop with a focus on edible delights. 

Experience this and more environmental workshops, speakers and performers, while enjoying open-air eco-friendly markets in the beautiful native botanic garden surrounds at IndigiScapes!

Spend the day wandering through the Botanic Garden market lane to explore the range of unique exhibitors, sustainable products and fresh artisan produce available from our creative market community and learn more about how you can make a difference to our natural world.

IndigiScapes Native Community Nursery will be open from 9.00am for all your native plant needs and advice.

Meet our 'Totally Wild' Ranger Stacey who will welcome you under the shade of the trees as you settle in for the official Opening Ceremony.  Relax afterwards listening to beautiful live and local music and the excitement of the shows on the outdoor stage. 

Catch all of the action with special guests including;

  • The Suga Cane Mamas with Minjerribah singer Georgia Corowa, who will entertain you with their amazing vocals
  • Folk/Rock band 'Diddly Squat' 
  • Art4Earthling's Charlie and the gang. Join in on the wild roving adventures as the world discovers that Bin Chickens might actually be the country's unsung superheroes 
  • D'Aguilar Native Wildlife Show and display
  • Crowd favourite 'Hello Africa' who will lift the tempo and get you moving in the afternoon with their interactive drumbeats and dance

Free Family activities

Grab a coffee or a bite to eat at the IndigiCafé or try the fantastic fare from the food vans, while children are engaged in free eco-friendly craft, nature activities and outdoor play;

  • Get up close with local native wildlife 
  • Use a mini Cold press to extract honey from a hive
  • Enjoy a Native bee hotel workshop
  • Dig and discover live worms 
  • Help weave an ephemeral  'Archway to Nature'  in the gardens
  • Try family yoga and enjoy mindful time to reconnect and attach a message to a 'giving tree' for the earth 
  • Experience Henna Tattoo Art and flora and fauna face painting
  • Make a native banksia seed bee

Environmental workshops

Expand your knowledge with workshops on edible gardening, Fungi loving arthropods, native bee hotels, worms, threatened species, composting, clothing repair, eco-friendly packaging, using the iNaturalist App, native habitat and more.

Engage with and learn about the work of Environmental and Community organisations, Council teams, including;Environment Education, Bushcare, Wildlife and Environmental Partnerships; 

  • Council's Waste, Pest, Disaster and Fire Management teams
  • Council's Libraries 'First Five Forever' crew will return with their children's literacy team where imaginative minds can engage in stories and games

Eco Markets

Our very successful Eco Markets will be included at the fair. You will be inspired by the range of local stalls with eco-friendly products, native plants and artisan produce available within our creative market community.

Explore or participate in our Suitcase Rummage and Rack Sale and join Boomerang Bags repair workshop demonstration about mending clothes.

A great selection of local food will be available from the IndigiCafe, fresh produce stalls, food and coffee vans, as well as a sausage sizzle fundraiser supporting the Guides and Scouts as they help keep the hunger pangs at bay throughout the day.

There is so much to see and do at our Environment and Community Fair to celebrate World Environment Day.

Dogs at IndigiScapes
We love meeting your furry friends at IndigiScapes. However, we kindly request that dogs do not accompany their owners into the Botanic Gardens at any time, including our Eco Market events. You are welcome to enjoy a leisurely walk on our designated walking tracks, with your dog on a lead.

Parking
Event parking at:

  • Nursery entry at 15 Runnymede Road, Capalaba
  • Park at Lyndon Road and Korowal Street, Capalaba where a shuttle bus to the Centre will be operating every half hour, or you can take a short stroll through the bush track to the native botanic gardens.

Alternatively, travel by public transport via bus route 264, 270, stopping near IndigiScapes on Redland Bay Road, Capalaba.

The amazing team of volunteers from Boomerang Bags Redland City are talented makers with a passion for sustainable creation. They have a range of products created from unwanted fabric and textiles. Champions of the circular economy their work keeps textiles out of landfill. You will find everything from shopping bags to eco cleaning cloths and beautifully covered books, eco-on-the-go cutlery sets, bag sewing kits and more.  

Oakland Street Community Gardens is your local community garden. They bring potted plants to purchase, herbs and vegetable seedlings, plus sustainable and fun gardening ideas.

OzHarvest is a registered charity and one of Australia’s leading food rescue organisations. Saving surplus food from ending up in landfill and delivering it to charities that help feed people in need.  Passionate about advocating for sustainable food systems and helping people reduce their household food waste. Show your support by purchasing merchandise with an environmental focus, including keep cups, reusable lunch boxes, beeswax wraps and recipes to use up commonly wasted food.

Fresh Artisan Produce

Spice up your life with 46 varieties of locally grown Chilli plants grown from true seed under a pest and disease free, food safe program. . From ornamentals through to superhots, with some rare varieties available. Carolina Reaper is one of the most popular.

A family owned artisan craft distillery right here on Redlands Coast! Artisan market stalls

Working with Vintage fabrics, recycled textiles, remnants, hand printed textiles and offcuts/scrap fabrics, Donna makes cushions in various sizes, embellished with modern and vintage trims. Kids and adult aprons, Spectical/glasses cases/pouches recycled cutlery pouch's and book marks. Cushion inserts are made from recycled PET plastic bottles.

Supporting worldwide artisans with a unique range of certified 'Fair Trade' arts and crafts, clothing, jewellery, homeware and fashion accessories.

From a love of plants and nature Firefly Gully Creations have produced beautiful statement pieces using low maintenance, living plants. These decorative settings will certainly brighten up your world with each unique piece handcrafted here on Redlands Coast.

Designed and created on our Redlands Coast, beautiful artisan soap made using the cold processed method, soy wax candles and melts, room mists and reed diffusers.

Pop in and visit Tanya from Frog In A Teacup. She has a passion for simple, sustainable living and can help you reduce your single use plastic with her handmade eco-friendly beeswax wraps.

Heartwood Nature Bathing is a sustainable business that has the environment at its core. When not running her mindful Forest Bathing workshops, Monique weaves using raffia, other plant fibres, and recycled fabrics to create affordable, eco-friendly small vases, bowls, plates, and wall hangings.

LTS Botanical is a handcrafted small business focused on creating a sensory experience through home and body products, using locally sourced plant-based ingredients.

Merry Go Round Toys offer sustainable, eco friendly quality pre-loved toys in a socially responsible manner.  All items are thoroughly quality checked prior to sanitisation (no nasty chemicals EVER) before being photographed and placed on our website and taken to markets.

With a desire to slow down and live more mindfully. Jodie uses ethically sourced fibres to crochet a range of bags, reusable face wipes, wash cloths, dish scrubbies and keep cup cozies, You will also find soy candles and essential oil incense sticks, dried flower arrangements in hand turned timber vases made by Jodie's husband at Slow Intentions.

Australian indigenous clothing with a range of Australiana shirts for men, hats and bags and a small children's range.  

Angela from Sweet Bees 'n' Things is passionate about our environment, living sustainably and encouraging others to introduce ecofriendly habits at home.  Angela makes beeswax wraps, sleeves and snack pouches, beehive candles, tea lights and lip balms from her home base in Mt Cotton.
