WELCOME & THANK YOU Welcome to our 2022 Rugby, Racing and Beer Sale, an initiative we started last year to help promote racing ownership and participation and to support the Ellie Stokes Trust. Thanks to everyone supporting this promotion, particularly those people joining us on May 13th for our luncheon and auction in the Showgate Room, Riccarton Park Racecourse. Thanks too, to all those who have helped to make this event possible including our guest speakers Ciaron Maher (Melbourne’s champion trainer), former All Black star Israel Dagg (66 Caps), the world’s best auctioneer Steve Davis and the South Island's favourite son Matt Cross as MC. I also would like to make a special mention to our sponsors Arion Pedigrees and Majestic Horse Floats for their generous support of the event. Finally, a huge thanks to the Canterbury Jockey Club and their team for helping us host this event and making today happen. ELLIE STOKES TRUST FUNDRAISER Ellie Stokes is a young woman whose life has changed dramatically. In 2018 Ellie was working with her passion, horses. Specifically, Ellie was working with thoroughbred racehorses in a racing stable with the dream of one day being a jockey and eventually a racing trainer in her own right. On Thursday 3rd January 2019 Ellie, aged 16, fell riding track work breaking her back in five places and severed her spinal cord which has left her paralysed from the chest down. She spent three weeks in intensive care and five months at Burwood Hospital and is continuing to receive treatment. A home specially adapted to the needs of a wheelchair has been built but there is a shortfall of funds in construction and associated costs that has evolved through that process. The ‘Ellie Stokes Trust’ has been established to raise the money to cover this cost and to help release the burden on Ellie and her family.
BEYOND THE BARRIERS NZ is a non-profit organisation whose purpose is to promote the versatility & suitability of retired racehorses as pleasure and sporthorses within New Zealand in a way which is beneficial for both the Thoroughbred & sporthorse industries.

TERMS & CONDITIONS • All horses are offered for genuine sale • All buyers must do their own due diligence prior to bidding • While there will be X-Ray and scope reports available it is the responsibility of the bidder to make their own assessment on the horse and its suitability • All horses are free of financing or any registration upon them • The leading bid at the fall of the hammer will be winning bid if the price is above the reserve price • Payments are to be arranged before the bidding commences • If no arrangement is made payment will be made within 15 working days • The Auctioneer has full discretion as to whether to accept bids or not, the Auctioneers decision is final.
