Becoming a member

Library membership is free to all residents of NSW. You can join at any branch of the Library Service by presenting proof of your name and current address. New members under the age of 16 years require a guarantor to provide proof of address and a Medicare card with their name. 

Conditions of membership

• To borrow items you must present your library membership card or identification. Your membership card will be available for collection at any Ku-ring-gai Library branch on presentation of required identification.
• You accept responsibility for all items borrowed on your and your child's library card (if you are a parent or guardian).
• Borrowing privileges may be suspended if you have overdue items and/or outstanding charges.
• Courtesy email reminders do not remove your responsibility to return all items on, or by, the due date which is identified when items are issued.
• All costs incurred by the Library due to items lost or damaged whilst in your care must be paid in full.
• Please inform the Library of any changes to personal details, e.g. change of address or name.
  
• Please report lost cards to the Library immediately. You will be held responsible for any items borrowed before the loss is reported. Replacement card fees apply.
• When using the Library Internet you must ensure that you or your child do not access, download or print offensive material.
• All Library facilities, equipment, collections, and property must be treated with due care.
• Unsociable behaviours, including excessive noise, harassment and intoxication are not acceptable.
• Please keep your personal belongings with you at all times.
• You must follow relevant Council policies (available at www.krg.nsw.gov.au).
• You must follow the NSW Library Act 1939 and Regulations (www.legislation.nsw.gov.au).
• Membership details are confidential and will not be disclosed to other parties.
• Fees and charges are available on the Ku-ring-gai Council website.
