'The Clean Bin Project' film screening plus Q & A with the Rogue Ginger
Tuesday 13th November, 6.30pm-8.45pm
Preston Library, 266 Gower Street, Preston
Join Erin Rhoads, aka the Rogue Ginger and author of Waste Not, plus Darebin’s Environment and Library teams for National Recycling Week 2018!
As part Council’s Recycle Right campaign we’ll be screening The Clean Bin Project, a film that asks, is it possible to live totally waste-free? Couple Jen and Grant put that question to the test with some hilarious results. Competing to produce as little waste as possible in a calendar year, the film takes humorous aim at our “throw-away” culture and draws our attention to the darker issue of waste.
Following the film, Erin will share stories of her journey towards minimising waste in her daily life and you’ll have a chance to ask those difficult waste-free questions, learn practical tips and share ideas.
This is a free event but bookings are essential.
A light supper will be provided, but please BYO cup.
For more information contact Darebin Libraries on 1300 655 355.

Have you taken the pledge to Recycle Right?
We hope so! Recycling Right means always putting the right items in the recycling bin, keeping the wrong items out (plastic bags, soft plastic, drinking glasses, polystyrene), and making sure all recycling goes in the bin loosely (no bags!).
By Recycling Right you’re helping to save valuable resources from going to landfill, save energy and protecting our
environment.
The Recycle Right Pop up display has travelled to around Darebin in recent weeks visiting libraries, Farmer’s Markets and shopping areas, chatting to over 200 along the way. Many have learnt something new about recycling. For example, did you know that drinking glasses can’t go in recycling? Drinking glasses are heat treated and can’t be recycled like bottles and jars can. And, the best way to put recycling in your yellow-lidded bin is to place it in loose – plastic bags are not required!
You can get involved in the Recycle Right campaign by taking the following actions:
1. Take the Pledge and test your knowledge with our Recycle Right quiz (Hint: prizes are involved!)
2. Download our new Recycling Quick Guide poster and our A to Z Waste and Recycling Guide to go on your fridge or near your household bins.
3. Visit us! Our travelling display will be popping up around Darebin throughout November and December. Visit the Community Events Calendar and search for 'Recycle Right' for dates and locations.
Keep up to date with our Recycle Right Campaign on Council’s Instagram, Facebook or Twitter. For more information on Recycle Right and loads of tips and handy suggestions for recycling at home visit www.darebin.vic.gov.au/recycling.

Wednesday 21st November, 7.00pm - 8.00pm
Reservoir Scout Hall, Leamington Street, Reservoir
Have you ever heard an Eastern Banjo, or Pobblebonk frog? Frogs are most easily recognised by the calls they make, but how do you know what frog is calling? Come down to Edwardes Lake on Wednesday 21st November for a guided walk by Waterwatch and frog discovery adventure around the wetlands and Edgars creek.
You will learn to recognise different frog calls and help collect important data for the frog census using Melbourne Water’s Frog Census App.
