CEO Report

 

As this is the final edition of Your Local News for 2019, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our partners, stakeholders and members of the Gold Coast community for your continued support in improving healthcare on the Gold Coast. The end of the year is a perfect time to reflect and highlight some of the work we have achieved:
  • 1,915 people have accessed alcohol and other drug treatment services, exceeding the target of 900, with 90 per cent, reporting satisfaction with the service.
  • To help residents reduce their risk of chronic disease, 1,371 participants enrolled in the My health for life program.
  • GPs involved in medical student placements has increased from 124 to 179 with very high student satisfaction.
  • My Health Record engagement included face-to-face meetings with 935 health care providers; 193 general practices are registered, and we held 156 consumer events.
  • 292 new clients received support through the Turning Pain into Gain program, exceeding the annual target of 248.
  • 1,673 new clients attended headspace Southport. Fifty per cent of clients completed a satisfaction survey, with a 4 out of 5 average satisfaction rating.

Decommissioning of HealthyGC Service Directory


Through extensive consultation with our stakeholder groups, Gold Coast Primary Health Network (GCPHN) have developed a rich understanding of how people are using the current HealthyGC website and identified opportunities that are informing the redesign of the new optimised website, with the new site expected to go live in January 2020.

As part of the redevelopment, GCPHN have made the decision to decommission our HealthyGC service directory and instead move to the National Health Service Directory (NHSD), a government owned, not-for-profit organisation who deliver telehealth and digital health services to all Australians. Help Turn Psychosis Around campaign launched


The campaign, Help Turn Psychosis Around, developed by Orygen, has recently been launched, in close consultation with young people with lived experience of psychosis, health professionals and headspace, the National Youth Mental Health Foundation. It is aimed primarily at health professionals and encourages them to refer young people who may be experiencing early psychosis to the headspace Early Psychosis program so they can receive the benefits available through early intervention. 

The campaign features a video, posters and information about early psychosis. headspace Southport is the local support service, providing an early psychosis program.

Security update - Windows 7 end of support


If you're still using Windows 7, then it's time to plan an upgrade. Support for the Windows 7 operating system is ending on 14 January 2020. After this, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support for computers or devices running Windows 7. If your hardware or software is too old it may not auto-update and leave your business susceptible to technical, software and security issues. The Australian Cyber Security Centre recommends upgrading your device or software. Find out what your options are here.
 

National Digital Health Workforce and Education Summit


On Wednesday 20 November, the Australian Digital Health Agency, in collaboration with the Digital Health Cooperative Research Centre, hosted the National Digital Health Workforce and Education Summit. This crucial Summit brought together leading academics, industry, policy makers, consumers and health and care workers nationally to discuss and collaborate on the draft National Digital Health Workforce and Education Roadmap (the Roadmap) to support the Australian health workforce in the global transformation to a digital health future.

The Roadmap builds upon Australia’s National Digital Health Strategy and the associated Framework for Action. The Roadmap describes the current state of the workforce in health, including volunteers and health consumers and their associated digital capability. You can read more about it here.

Can't remember your Registered Authority (RA) number?
The number to call to find the RA number is the eBusiness service centre number:
Phone: 1800 700 199   (Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm)
Option 1 – for User name and password queries relating to PRODA

Here's how to find your RA number:
  1. Login to your PRODA account.
  2. Click Profile at the top right menu.
  3. The RA number will be listed under the My Details section. If the RA number is not shown, contact the Human Services eBusiness Service Centre on 1800 700 199.

PRODA Delegation
As a provider, you can nominate someone to do tasks on your behalf in HPOS through their own unique PRODA log in. For example you may choose to nominate your practice manager or administrative staff. Staff who can be a delegate for multiple providers but must select the correct provider they intend to act on behalf of when performing tasks in HPOS. The Benchmarque Group: Course in Immunisation Practice in Primary Healthcare

 

For GPs, registered nurses and enrolled nurses


Friday 7 February 2020, 8.30am - 1pm
The Course in Immunisation Practice in Primary Healthcare is designed to upskill students (clinicians) to perform a range of comprehensive immunisation services, and remain up to date with current vaccination programs, changes, and requirements to their scope of practice.

The course includes online learning completed via BenchmarqueIQ, half-day face to face workshop, in-class activities and a mandatory third party observed workplace activity. The fee to attend and complete this course is $375.00 per student. Registrations close Monday 6 January.

What is My health for life?

The My health for life program is designed to support you in preventing and managing chronic disease with your patients. It is a practical extension of the advice given by GPs and nurses to their patients allowing participants to better understand their health risks and support them to achieve their health-related goals. BSQ Clinical Examination Outcome Forms

BreastScreen Queensland (BSQ) Gold Coast Service would like to thank GPs and practice staff for the timely return of Clinical Examination Outcome Forms for symptomatic clients. It greatly assists the BSQ Clinical team with follow-up care, if the completed forms include where clients are being referred to for any relevant diagnostic tests (i.e. ultrasound provider/location). End of Life Directions for Aged Care (ELDAC) are calling for expressions of interest from Aged Care IT providers to build a dashboard within their own system.
