WHO CAN ENTER?

The Harmony Day Poster Competition is open to school students in all schools in Australia. Entries are based on the student’s school year for 2024.

PRIZES

The competition will be divided into two sections:

    • Junior, years K to 6
    • Senior, years 7 – 12

And, within each section, into groups based on year of study (see Terms and Conditions below).

    • The overall winner in each of the Junior and Senior sections will receive $500.

    • The group winners will each receive $150.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • The Harmony Day Poster Competition is open to school students in all schools in Australia. Entries are based on the student’s school year for 2024.

  • Group artworks will be classified according to the oldest student in the group.

  • Submitted artwork must be the student’s original creation! Making a copy of any pre-existing image is not acceptable, whether visually or by tracing. Colouring in an outline printed or drawn by someone else or having someone else contribute to the artwork is also not acceptable.

  • Entries can be made from any traditional media, including pastel, oil pastels, pen, pencil, charcoal, acrylics, watercolour, oils, mixed media, collage, or other materials.

  • Artwork must not be overly derivative of images found on the Internet, in print media, or elsewhere.

  • All entries must be a drawing, painting, mixed media or photograph. Videos and three dimensional sculptures will not be accepted.

  • Number of Entries: Students may submit one individual entry and one joint entry with other students.

    • Where possible entries should be submitted digitally, however postal entries will also be accepted.

    • Once you have submitted the entry form online, you will receive an email confirmation. This will contain the school name and it will list all Students included in that entry.

There is no entry fee to enter the Harmony Day Poster Competition

Digital entries

    • Each entry must be submitted as an individual attachment to an email.

    • The heading for each attachment must be the Student’s name and the School name.

    • The attachments must be in JPEG format.

Postal Entries

    • Please print the email confirmation and include it with the entries when they are posted.

    • Please ensure that the School’s name and the Student’s name are clearly visible on the back of each Poster submitted. Entries must be mailed to:

In the case of multiple students entering a single poster the “Year of Study” will be determined from the student in the group with the highest “Year of Study”.

    • A panel of judges, consisting of (visual arts?) educators and experienced artists, will be appointed by the Harmony Day Poster Competition Committee to judge the Competition.

    • The judges’ rulings are final and without appeal in all matters related to this Competition and the awarding of the Prizes.

    • When judging the posters, the judges will be considering the following:

      1. Suitability as a poster

      2. Expression of the theme of the competition

      3. Imagery used

      4. Skill in execution

The competition will be divided into two sections:

    • Junior, years K to 6
    • Senior, years 7 – 12

Junior:

      • Years K & 1
      • Year 2
      • Year 3
      • Year 4
      • Year 5
      • Year 6

Senior:

      • Years 7 & 8
      • Years 9 & 10
      • Years 11 & 12
  • The overall winner in each of the Junior and Senior sections will receive $500.

  • The group winners will each receive $150.

  • In the case of joint winners, the prize money will be evenly divided over the number of winners.

  • In the case of a poster submitted by multiple students the prize money will be evenly divided over the number of participants

The prize winners will be advised of their success once the judging has been completed and the prize winners, together with a limited number of guests, will be invited to the prize giving function that will be held in NSW Parliament House in June 2024.

The overall winners will be invited to talk about their poster at the prize giving function.

We are unable to return posters that have been entered in the competition so if you wish to retain your poster, please send in a digital entry.

  • Entrants will retain copyright and other intellectual rights for any poster entered in the competition, however, as a condition of entry in the competition, the owner of such copyright and other intellectual rights grants a perpetual license to Moving Forward Together Association Incorporated (MFT) which entitles MFT to reproduce the poster in promoting their program.

  • MFT reserves the right to crop and/or correct artwork for hanging and to ensure consistency of appearance.

  • MFT may reject entries that it considers inappropriate for any reason. The Organiser can publish or decline to publish, or use or decline to use, any submitted artwork at its sole discretion.

By entering the Competition, the entrant agrees to comply with these rules and to be bound by them
  • The Contest organiser assumes no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, illegible, incomplete, postage due or misdirected entries, or for any problems with technical malfunction or any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software failure or any entry to be received or transmitted, congestion on the internet or at any website, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrants or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from using or downloading any material in the contest.

  • By entering this Contest, entrants agree that MFT and its members, directors, and other groups supporting the competition, are not liable for any loss or damage of any kind to the entrant or any other person in connection with this Contest or participation in any Contest related activities, including but not limited to the use or misuse of a prize or any portion of a prize including personal injury or property damage.

  • MFT reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, cancel or suspend this Contest or any part of it should external circumstances arise which are beyond the reasonable control of the Contest Organiser.

  • MFT is not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or advertising this Contest. This Contest will run in accordance with these Contest Rules, subject to amendment by MFT.

MFT is committed to a strict privacy policy. It will not share any personal data about entrants with any other party, without the consent of the parent, teacher, program manager or guardian. MFT collects personal information for the purposes of registration, program evaluation and to keep you informed about the contest. MFT may also contact you from time to time with information about future events if you provide explicit permission as indicated on the entry form.
