HUNTLY’S NEW
CULTURAL HUB

HUNTLY’S NEW CULTURAL HUB

We’re on a journey to relocate & restore a piece of Raahui Pookeka Huntly’s history.

The Waikato District Council and design and construction partners are giving the original Huntly Railway Station a new lease on life. Once the relocation and restoration is complete, the building will be handed over to the Huntly Museum.

However, we’ve had an unfortunate setback.

The night we moved the station to its new foundations, disaster struck as the first half of the station was set alight.

THE PROJECT IS STALLED,
NOT STOPPED!

With a passionate team who have already committed so much hard work and effort to this project, we will carry on as planned, holding our heads high to get the job done.
However, after suffering so much damage, the project will continue at an increased cost and slower rate.
