Biography

Stefan is a Senior Principle Research scientist with over 30 years of experience in material science and metal process technologies at CSIRO and Defence Science Technology Organisation (DSTO). Currently the Research Group Leader at CSIRO’s Advanced Materials & Processes Program, he leads the research activities in LAB22 Australian’s Centre for Additive Manufacturing encompassing EBM, Lasers, Cold spray, Powder Forming and Manipulation processes. While at CSIRO he delivered a wide range of materials solutions to the Australian and International industries, the most successful are directed towards aerospace, space, bio-medical, defence, die-casting, printing, titanium powder and metal processing industries. He co-pioneered Cold spray and EBM AM technology in Australia and continues to expand new research fields in metal AM and powders.

Research leader delivering new research capabilities and supply chain technologies for the Australian industry

Developing collaborative research projects involving multi-disciplinary and cross institutional research teams

Developing high technology research projects involving Industry, Universities and Government clients.

Planning & Developing research capabilities and IP strategies for future requirements .

Participation in domestic and international scientific materials research committees

Editor of the Australian Die Casting Association Journal for 10 years and a committee member since 1996. Stefan played a leading role in the organization of local and international die casting and surface engineering conferences and producing a regular casting industry magazines, 4 times/year
