Buy local and help our Murray River regions

About

Our flood-affected Murray River regions desperately need our support. And the best way to send that support is by spending it.

Brand SA is bringing businesses from the Riverland and Murraylands together on one online marketplace to help them keep trading. Now we're asking all South Australians to help our neighbours who are affected by the floods.

All we need to do is get shopping.

How we
can help

The Murray River regions are home to an incredible array of products and experiences. From award-winning wine and gin, to delicious honey, olives and almonds, to spectacular holidays and unique accommodation. Importantly, every time we choose to buy from our talented neighbours, we contribute much needed funds to their local community.

And while it may not be possible to get out to our favourite Murray River towns, we can still support the region by buying online today.

Spend your support

At Gluttony

Now you can spend your support at city Fringe venue Gluttony, with Riverland wine and gin available at The Local Bar. SA owned and operated, Gluttony is proudly supported by Brand SA.

For
Businesses

We know that challenging times are ahead for the South Australian Murray River regions, and understand that the impact of this flood will last beyond when the water disperses.

That’s why we’re inviting all affected businesses in the area to join our Spend Your Support initiative via the Shop Local SA online marketplace.

We hope this will enable you to continue trading, explore new sales channels, and generate greater awareness for your brand and business.

How it works

  • Register your interest via the online form and the team from Shop Local SA will be in touch to get you started.

  • Shop Local SA will waive any site fees or commission for the 3 month promotion period (until 10 March 2023).

  • Load up inventory and you’re open for business. We encourage you to also share via your own social media channels. Check our toolkit for some helpful material we prepared for you.

FAQS

What if I can’t physically access my stock or facilitate shipment of products?

If getting to your stock or dispatching is a challenge, you can still offer vouchers to be redeemed at a later date.

What if I already have my own online store?

If you already have an online store, you can still participate. Consider this an additional channel, with expanded reach.

What happens to my Shop Local SA page after the promotion ends?

After the promo period, you can choose to remain on Shop Local SA at no additional cost. Brand SA has covered the once-off set-up payment. When the promotion ends, you will start paying Shop Local SA’s standard 8% commission on each sale through your Shop Local SA store.

How will people find my shop?

Brand SA – along with media partners – will spread the word to the South Australian community as part of a dedicated campaign. Plus, Shop Local SA has an existing following of consumers who love supporting local. You can also help spread the word on your own social media. Check our toolkit for some materials we prepared for you.

What happens if I don’t sell anything?

There is no cost or obligation to participate. We hope you’ll be successful but if your store doesn’t make any sales, you will not have paid to appear on the site.

How much time / effort is involved in setting up the site?

Brand SA is covering the cost for the Shop Local SA team to onboard and support you. The initial setup will require a bit of input from you. You will need to provide your business logo and promotional images, business information and details on what products you will sell. The Shop Local SA team will show you how to navigate your new online store including how to process your orders.
