Passport and notarial services

The Australian Embassy Belgrade is open to the public Monday to Friday 09:00-13:00 . The Embassy provides the following passport and notarial services (fees apply for most services):

Passports

- Passport applications

- Passport renewals

- Passport collections (no fee)

- Emergency passports (for emergency travel only, and subject to a 48-hour processing period)

Notarial services

- Witnessing of signatures (including for statutory declarations and driver licence applications/renewals)

- Certifying a copy of a document

- Certificates of No Impediment (CNI) to Marriage

- Affidavits

- Apostilles

Appointments for passport and notarial services should be made via our online booking service. If you can't find an available appointment time and it's urgent, call our office on +381 (0)11 3303 400.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) uses third-party software (Setmore) to manage consular appointments (notarial and passport services). Your personal information (including your name and contact details) will be collected by DFAT via Setmore to book your appointment and for related purposes. By proceeding with this booking, you are consenting to the collection of this information by Setmore on DFAT’s behalf for these purposes. If this information is not collected, DFAT’s ability to arrange your appointment will be limited. Your personal information will be handled by Setmore in accordance with Setmore’s Privacy Policy, and by DFAT in accordance with DFAT’s Privacy Policy.

Payments

Passport and notarial fees are payable only by debit or credit card.

Cards accepted by the Embassy include the Dina Card, Visa, Visa electron, MasterCard and Maestro. All payments will be processed in Serbian Dinars (RSD).

For Australians in North Macedonia, you can make a bank transfer in euro (EUR) for passport and notary services. Contact the Embassy in Belgrade or our Consular Office in Skopje (North Macedonia) if you wish to use this option.

Allow up to six weeks to get a new passport or renew one

Need a new passport? Don’t wait until the last minute. Allow up to six weeks to get a new passport or renew one. In some locations, it may take a little longer to allow for local delivery times. Waiting for delivery of your passport?

If you lodged a passport application in Belgrade, Serbia or Skopje, North Macedonia, passports are currently subject to around five to seven days delivery time, in addition to APO’s normal 6-week processing timeframe.

Lost, stolen and/or urgent travel?

Applying for multiple passports for family members?

If you apply for two or more passports together, they might arrive at different times. Child applications can often take longer to process. For more information please visit https://www.passports.gov.au/frequently-asked-questions-faq.

Has your passport expired?

Plan ahead and make sure your passport’s still current. Be sure to allow up to six weeks to renew. In some locations, it may take a little longer to allow for local delivery times. Collection/dispatch of passports

Please note we can no longer send passports to applicants by registered mail through the Post of Serbia.

All passports must be collected from the Australian Embassy in Belgrade:

- in person by the applicant;

- by an authorised representative of the applicant;

- by a courier service such as Post Express (Serbia), DHL, Fedex or TNT (courier costs are to be met by the applicant).

These arrangements have been introduced to ensure that Australian passports are delivered by the most secure means.

Centrelink

For many customers outside of Australia the Centrelink free call number (+ 612 3 6222 3455) is not available. If you wish to be called back by Centrelink, send an email to: [email protected] (with your name, customer reference number, telephone numbers and query) or call Centrelink and ask the Customer Service Officer to call back.

Driver’s licences

We are aware of the current policy in Serbia to retain foreign driver's licences when an application is made for a Serbian driver's licence. Any Australian driver's licences received at the Australian Embassy Belgrade are sent to the relevant Australian state or territory road authority. Licences cannot be collected at the embassy.

Birth, death and marriage certificates

The Australian Embassy Belgrade cannot obtain a birth, marriage or death certificate from Australia on your behalf.

If you wish to obtain a copy of your Australian birth, marriage or death certificate you may apply through official web site of the relevant State or Territory Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages.

Police clearances

The Australian Embassy Belgrade cannot issue a police clearance. Police clearances are issued by the relevant state and territory authorities in Australia, or the Australian Federal Police (AFP) in Canberra. Contact your state or territory police agency or the AFP for more information.
