Sport NZ Outcomes Framework

Sport NZ Outcomes Framework

A resource to help our partners (from grassroots to Government) to understand how Sport NZ and the wider play, active recreation and sport system contributes to the wellbeing of all New Zealanders.

Introduction to the Sport NZ Outcomes Framework

Watch this introductory video to learn how this tool can help you to plan, prioritise and assess your work, so you can best support the wellbeing of people in your community.

As a crown agency, Sport NZ is focused on contributing to the wellbeing of New Zealanders through the Living Standards Framework. A whole-of-Government view, this is focussed on intergenerational outcomes and improving the wellbeing of all New Zealanders over time.

The Sport NZ Outcomes Framework (framework) articulates the thinking and evidence behind the contributions play, active recreation and sport make to the wellbeing of all New Zealanders. The framework is a central component of Sport NZ’s 2020-2032 Strategic Direction, and will enables us (and others) to better demonstrate impact and show alignment to the Government’s Living Standards Framework.

Developed during 2018-2019 the framework explored the role of play, active recreation and sport in impacting wellbeing. Throughout the development of the framework the Value of Sport research (2018) was a central reference document in understanding the existing evidence for the contributions made by play, active recreation and sport.

The information in the framework is based on national and international evidence, and will support partners and the wider system in their understanding of contributions to wellbeing and the relevance of this work to strategy.
