Piezoelectric Spheres & Hemisphere Transducers

Piezoceramic Hollow Spheres, Hemispheres, Focus Bowls

High Performance Spherical Ultrasound Transducers – Where Are They Used?

PI develops and produces high quality piezoelectric transducers for sensing and ultrasound applications such as data communications, therapeutic medical ultrasound, and SONAR. Piezo spheres, hemispheres and focus bowls are available in a variety of geometries and electrode designs. Material choices include hard PZT and soft PZT formulations, e.g. PIC255, PIC151, PIC155, and PIC181.

Micro Spheres and Standard Spheres

For our piezo micro spheres, inner diameters start as small as 1mm. Standard spheres and piezo focus bowls are available with outside diameters up to 130mm.  Applications for spherical ultrasound transducers range from medical technology (miniature spheres) to hydroacoustic applications (large spheres) and high-intensity focused ultrasound generation (HIFU). PI Ceramic piezoelectric ultrasonic transducers offer high sensitivity and durability.  For resonant frequency and radial oscillation calculations, see formulas below.
