Wander on Kangaroo Island

Calling you to explore new opportunity.

Listed by the New York Times as one of the Top 10 Places to Visit for 2023, Kangaroo Island is home to breathtaking diversity, striking coastal rock formations, and a vibrant vanguard of locals who celebrate and protect this iconic destination.

Here on this magical island, just a short ferry or flight from Adelaide, four WanderPods rest atop the northern bluff overlooking Snelling Beach and the biodiverse waters of South Australia.

Discover expansive swaths of protected native lands, beautiful storms that sweep across untouched bushland, and an ever-renewing case study in the resilience of communities formed in the crucible of distant lands.

“It doesn’t matter what direction you go on Kangaroo Island, you’ll find something magical before long.” Jeff K

The WanderPods.

Sitting high up in the heavens, four WanderPods overlooking the Great Australian Bight are named after constellations only seen in the southern skies.  Part of the Heavenly Waters family of stellar formations, their names relate to the great oceans, rivers, sea creatures, and ships.

What Wanderers are saying.

From Austin staying at Carina

Honestly the most beautiful place we have ever stayed!

The view from the bedroom was unreal. The pod was modern and had a great aesthetic. Would definitely stay again, cannot recommend enough!

From Jo staying at Columba

Wander is spectacular; quality fixtures, sweeping views, and everything set up to create a lovely intimate escape. I particularly loved the outdoor bath, the herb salts and the games to inspire connection in a couple…just what we were looking for.

From Rachael staying at Carina

Our stay was absolutely magical, we honestly wouldn’t change a thing about it. Carina was stunning, tranquil, luxurious and reinvigorating for us. We spent hours, just relaxing, taking in the view, the fresh air, wildlife, and the solitude. Congratulations on creating something so special Wander, we look forward to exploring more Wander locations.

How do you get there?

Welcome to Australia’s third largest island.

There are a couple of ways to get to Kangaroo Island, and we strongly suggest this is not a trip to rush.  Slow it right down and enjoy the journey.

Your Wander experience is lucky enough to be located on one of the best beaches on the north coast of the island.  Please keep in mind this is a remote destination and the island has many dirt roads to explore.

Take to the seas.

Sealink operates daily ferries to take passengers and vehicles from Cape Jervis on the mainland to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island with a 45min trip one way.

Wander is a 1hr 20min drive from the ferry terminal.

We recommend booking your ferry and accommodation together to ensure you get the dates you need.

Take to the skies.

QantasLink are flying from Adelaide to Kingscote Airport on Kangaroo Island several times a week with a short 35min flight one way.

Wander is a 50min drive from the airport.

Take to the open roads.

We strongly suggest taking a car and although most areas are accessible with a 2WD, there are a lot of dirt roads.  To hire a car on the island, check out Hertz and Budget or look at a Private Transfer.

There are also plenty of hire options from Adelaide.

Experiences handpicked by Wander and yours to enjoy.

We believe that mindset change begins with the stories we tell.

Make your stay remarkable by immersing yourself in the experiences, stories and generosity of the locals.
