In December 2019, a disease known as "coronavirus" was first reported in Wuhan, China. It infected many people in Wuhan and eventually began spreading to other parts of the world. Some people have had to go into lockdown in their homes, hotels and even cruise ships to stop the spread of the disease.

It wasn’t until February 11th 2020 that the disease was given an official name by the World Health Organisation (WHO): COVID-19.

That’s because the outbreak of the disease happened so quickly that experts had bigger things to worry about than naming it. To find out why the name was changed and what it means, check out this Newsbreak story.
