The Finance Ministry has confirmed that the "Ying Chai Ying Dai" e-voucher cashback scheme and phase 3 of the Khon La Khrueng co-payment scheme will go ahead as planned, with the aim of boosting the economy in the second half of the year.
Finance minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith said yesterday that registrants would be able to use the schemes as planned from July 1 until the end of the year.
His remark came in response to rumours that both schemes would be delayed following the government's decision to close off high-risk areas in Greater Bangkok and four southern provinces for 30 days, starting yesterday.
The Ying Chai Ying Dai (the more you spend, the more you get) scheme provides users with cashback e-vouchers for domestic purchases, encouraging people to puchase food, products and services at participating shops through the Krungthai Bank Pao Tang mobile application.
Participants will receive vouchers in their Pao Tang e-wallets at a rate of 10-15% of spending, with a maximum limit of 7,000 baht per person. The e-voucher caps the amount it uses to calculate the cashback received at 5,000 baht daily, regardless of the daily amount spent.
With regard to phase 3 of the co-payment scheme, the government will pay half for food, drinks and general goods purchases of up to 150 baht per person per day. This is capped at 3,000 baht per person.
In addition to both schemes, the government will launch another two relief measures to help those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. One of them is the project to provide an additional 200 baht monthly to 13.65 million state welfare cardholders for six months.
The other project is to give an extra 200 baht per month for six months to 2.5 million people who are in need of special aid.
