The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) plans to build a new industrial estate in Chachoengsao, one of three provinces in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), within two years to help the government lift the economy after the pandemic is under control.
The project, recently approved by the IEAT board, is a joint venture between IEAT and Apex Industrial Park Co. The new estate is expected to serve targeted industries in the EEC, a high-tech industrial hub being developed to help drive the Thai economy forward.
The new industrial estate spans 2,191 rai of land and is named Apex Green Industrial Park.
The estate consists of 1,600 rai of industrial land for sale and 591 rai of infrastructure, as well as green and buffer zones.
"The government expects Apex Green Industrial Park to generate around 64 billion baht in investments and economic value, and create 16,000 jobs," said Veeris Ammarapala, governor of IEAT.
He said prospective manufacturers investing in the new industrial estate are expected to come from a range of sectors, including metal, machinery, logistics equipment, electronics, home appliances, agriculture products and high-tech products.
According to the IEAT, Apex Green Industrial Park is located around 100 kilometres off the Laem Chabang deep-sea port in Chon Buri.
It is 120km away from U-tapao airport and 130km from the Map Ta Phut port in Rayong.
Parts of Chon Buri, Rayong and Chachoengsao provinces form the EEC zone and span 30,000 rai of land on the eastern coast.
There are 34 industrial estates and 6,033 factories in the EEC.
IEAT operates a total of 60 indus- trial estates in 16 provinces across the country.
The investment value of project proposals in the EEC submitted to the Board of Investment (BoI) for tax privileges stood at 64.4 billion baht in the first quarter this year, an increase of 39% year-on-year, according to BoI.
Rayong recorded an investment value worth 29.4 billion baht, while Chon Buri and Chachoengsao recorded 25 billion and 10 billion, respectively.
