EDL-Generation Plc (EDL-Gen), an energy producer in Laos, reported revenue growth of 1,707% in the first half of 2020 to hit 1.15 billion baht after starting operations on two independent power producers.

The company completed the filing and is now ready to issue two series of debentures under the total amount of 3.7 billion baht with a coupon rate of 5.90% and 6.50% and with a duration of three and four years, respectively.

The debentures will be offered to institutional investors and/or high-net-worth investors. It will be available for subscription between Sept 20-22.

Vanhseng Vannavong, deputy managing director and chief financial officer of EDL-Gen, said the current strategic economic plan of Laos has put an emphasis on hydro-electric energy production in order to enhance the stability of both domestic and regional energy supply.

EDL-Gen is a state enterprise with 51% of the firm owned by the government of Laos.

In 2029, EDL-Gen plans to increase production to 2,435 megawatts from the current capacity of 1,683MW derived from commercially operated projects.

EDL-Gen has also recognised revenue from commercially operated projects, namely the Nam Ngum 2 and Xayaburi projects with equity attributed installed capacity of 153MW and 257MW, respectively. All these additional revenues are seen as strengthening the company's operating performance this year.
