Explore the Sun and UV at School teaching resources by Stage. Content across Stages is linked while highlighting and developing different elements and learning outcomes, so teachers and students can work with the content each year without repeating activities, nor needing to rely on previous years' learnings.

Teaching resources by stage
Through a key focus on the five forms of sun protection (Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek, Slide), students can experience learning as a Myth buster or a Designer, creating hat and shade shelter designs.
Students can explore how light travels through the creation of a 'gummy bear wave', examine how shade and shadows are created, examine myths relating to sun safety, design sun safe playgrounds and shelters, consider ways to protect themselves and others from UV radiation from the sun, and more.
Activities include exploring the impact of UV on the skin through the analysis of skin damage as seen through a UV camera, discover the many contributing demographic factors which make the likelihood of skin damage higher for various skin types and behaviours and more.
Students will have the opportunity to explore the promotion of sun safety, develop an understanding of how UV radiation behaves and how it affects the skin, explore the factors that influence skin cancer development, develop innovative shade designs, and more.
Students will have the opportunity to conduct shade audits of their playgrounds, explore recent research about the sun protection behaviours of NSW students, investigate myths relating to sun safety, discover how UV interacts with different materials, and more.
Students will have the opportunity to develop strategies to prevent skin cancer, examine student behaviours related to sun exposure, investigate how sunscreen works, analyse shade and UV in their playground or home, and develop informative social media campaigns relating to skin cancer prevention, amongst other activities.
