A physician at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne since 1994, Catherine has worked closely with patients and families to redesign services and improve quality and safety. She chairs the board of the Hush Foundation which transforms healthcare culture through use of the arts. Hush produces music for children, families and staff in hospitals around Australia, and has collaborated with renowned play-write Alan Hopgood in the development of the plays “Hear Me” and “Do You Know Me” which are performed in hospitals and Aged Care settings to raise awareness of patient centred care, communication and patient safety issues. In 2016, Hush cofounded the Gathering of Kindness.
In 2015, Catherine became a Member of the Order of Australia for her contribution to medicine, to community healthcare standards and to the Arts.
Catherine was a recipient of round one of the Trust's Impact Funding program in 2022 — a new initiative to enhance outcomes of Churchill Fellowships across all industries and sectors, and she is dedicated to transforming healthcare culture and environments through the arts. Catherine's Impact Funding project was to stream Hush performances into hospitals, medical schools and conferences, to reduce stress and anxiety in healthcare settings. About Impact Funding
