Students collect winter woollies for those in need

Tyler BrownJoondalup Times

PADBURY Catholic Primary School students have been collecting winter woollies for the school’s Reach out with Love project.

Each year, the school identifies a different need in the community and uses the initiative to address it.

This year, the school has been collecting children’s winter pyjamas, beanies, socks, scarves, gloves and blankets to make up backpacks to be given to St Vincent de Paul to distribute to those in need.

The packs also include messages of love.

Teacher Megan Woodall said the project started in 2016 “out of a desire to give our students hands-on opportunities to see the needs of others in the community and address these needs in a practical way”.

“In previous years we have created literacy packs for an Aboriginal community and toiletry packs for the homeless,” she said.
