2022 Secondary Schools’ Public Speaking Competition SE Qld

 

Congratulations to our 2022 finalists!

GRAND FINAL UPDATE

On 11 August, our ESU Public Speaking Competition showcased the outstanding skills of Senior Secondary School Grand Finalists. 6 South- East Queensland Finalists were joined by the Winner of the North Queensland division. North Queensland was well represented by Tara Woods who gained Third Place. Following a 5 minute Prepared topic, the Grand Finalists were each challenged to present a 3 minute Impromptu speech after a five minute preparation time. The winners were:

FIRST – Ebony Niethe from Centenary State High School, Brisbane

SECOND – Seth Ryan Maranduque from Centenary State High School, Brisbane

THIRD – Tara Woods from Pimlico State High School, Townsville

Senior Heats Update

On 21 July, 24 impressive Seniors( Year 11 &12) from across South East met at Seven Hills Hub for the Annual Senior English Speaking Union Public Speaking Competition.

Six outstanding students were chosen by our experienced adjudicators, Annette Stoddart and Pam Greatorix. Our adjudicators, both of whom are former Presidents of the Communication, Performance and Speech Teachers association in Queensland, commented on the high quality of competitors and the difficulty of choosing just 6 to go ahead to the Final on 11 August.

The South East Queensland Finalists will be joined by Tara Woods of Pimlico State High School, winner of the North Queensland Division on 11 August.

Intermediate Heats Update

On 26 May, 10 Heat winners from South-East Queensland and North Queensland met at the Seven Hills Hub in Seven Hills Brisbane to compete in the ESU Grand Final Intermediate competition for 2022.

TOPIC: If one has to submit, it is wasteful not to do so with the best possible grace. Winston Churchill

Each speaker presented a 4 minute Prepared speech and 2 minute Impromptu, with the latter topic given 5 preparation time.
