NEWS JUST IN!
Everyday sexisms in Australian Universities is not ‘all in women’s heads' - initial findings from an ARC project show that it’s real!
Are you a Perth-based academic? Are you feeling the squeeze of everyday sexisms in your workplace? Finding it hard to pin down why it keeps happening? Tired of feeling like it’s all in your head? ...............Well we have an event for you!
Join us at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art on the 24th or 25th November 2022 for a creative focus group where we will present initial findings from our survey of Australian academics, a phase of data collection for our Australian Research Council-funded Discovery Project Addressing and Understanding Everyday Sexisms in Australian Universities.
We know that a survey can’t capture the nuances of everyday sexisms, so we want to know if and how our initial findings are relevant to you, what they say to you, and how we can work together to address everyday sexisms across different identities, disciplines and university contexts.
The structure of the creative focus groups will involve:
- Sharing your perspectives on everyday sexisms in higher education
- Learning what the literature has to say about this issue
- Responding to our initial survey findings in a creative way.
But WAIT there’s MORE! It’s FREE to attend and we are offering TWO focus groups. Held in Perth, at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art (PICA) on either November 24th OR 25th, 2022.
TIME: 2pm - 4pm followed by food, drink, and conversation at PICA Bar.
We hope you will join us!
