The 2022 InASA Biennial Conference Dinner & 'Australia & the World' Lecture will be held at the Old Parliament House.
"Old Parliament House sits in centre of the cultural landscape known as the Parliamentary Triangle—reflecting the design for Canberra by Walter Burley Griffin. Its central positioning symbolises the primacy of the parliament over the executive and forms part of Griffin’s land axis vista.
It makes a major contribution as a viewpoint towards the Australian War Memorial and in the other direction to Parliament House. Old Parliament House is appreciated for its crisp lines, stark white colour, pronounced vertical patterns and classical form, and is a major component of public and familiar views of Canberra.
This iconic building has been central to Australia’s development as a nation, reflecting Australia’s democratic values, and political and social rights. The building’s entrance portico and lawns have been the settings for countless gatherings, protests, celebrations and demonstrations, including the Aboriginal Tent Embassy which was established in January 1972 and remains in place today."
