About this event

Join the team from WasteSorted Schools, Keep Australia Beautiful Council, City of Cockburn and the Resource Recovery Group to learn how to avoid and recover waste, and protect our environment, through litter prevention and waste reduction. This workshop includes:

  • a step-by-step guide on how to run a whole school waste and litter prevention program
  • loads of resources to take back to your school
  • laws relating to litter, social and environmental impacts and behaviour change
  • how to get started with waste avoidance and resource recovery projects
  • information on how to become an accredited WasteSorted School and apply for grant funding
  • resources and incursions available
  • a virtual look at the Canning Vale Resource Recovery Centres
  • a presentation from Beeliar PS, the winner of WasteSorted School of the year 2022

The workshop is suitable for school staff including teachers, principals, EAs, administration staff, gardeners and parents.

The workshop is FREE and teacher relief payments are available for two staff from each school.

Organized by

WasteSorted Schools is a program of the Waste Authority and offers resources and support for schools to plan, implement and maintain waste reduction projects such as recycling, composting and worm farming.

The program helps schools to set up infrastructure and provides resources aimed at changing attitudes and behaviour in regard to sustainable waste management.

The program is FREE and available to all schools in Western Australia.
