Matt kicks goals in new job

Matt Thomas is kicking goals after successfully getting a job at Rebel Sport.

Matt, his genU Employment Pathways coordinator and his MatchWorks employment consultant have been working together to reach his goal of gaining paid employment, which he has achieved. This journey included securing work experience at Rebel, which turned out to be all he needed to get his foot in the door!

During the course of Matt’s work experience, the team at Rebel quickly became very impressed with his capabilities. This prompted them to move Matt into the warehouse and assist the warehouse manager with deliveries.

The team saw Matt’s potential to support the warehouse manager at Rebel Sport.

Carl, the warehouse manager, was impressed with Matt’s initiative — ‘Matt has done a phenomenal job and got through so much stock and cleared the way for more stock to arrive.’ He says ‘This has given Matt and I time to attend to other tasks and clear the warehouse.”

The tasks Matt completed in the warehouse included:

  • Receiving stock
  • Creating manifests
  • Entering stock into the computer
  • Delivering stock to appropriate areas

Store Managers Melissa and Rebecca saw Matt’s capabilities through his work experience, and were keen to have him on board permanently.

Melissa says: “We are so happy to be able to offer Matt a position at Rebel, he definitely is part of our team and gets the job done. He fits in well and is very friendly and polite.”
