Lend a hand to neighbours in need
With a couple of clicks, you can make a difference to someone experiencing hardship in the Southern Highlands.
A region is only as strong as its community. Southern Highlanders are a resilient bunch, but some people in the community are hurting.
Drought, bushfires, storms, COVID-19 induced tourism and job losses - it's been a tough few years for a lot of people.
But giving back is easier than you think. GIVIT has partnered with The Southern Highlands Foundation to give generous locals in Wingecarribee and beyond a simple way to pitch in and help out.
Below is a list of items, services and vouchers requested by Highlands-based support organisations and charities on behalf of people they're supporting.

Donate items
Local community organisations need a range of items for the people they're supporting. The list changes as requests are filled, and new needs are identified by charities providing essential services. Commonly requested items include grocery and fuel vouchers, appliances and white goods such as fridges and washing machines, furniture like lounges, dining tables and beds, baby items and clothes, and toys, books and stationery.
Donate money
You can donate money to purchase essential items for vulnerable people in the Southern Highlands by looking out for the FUND button. From $5 for some toiletries for a family in financial hardship due to job loss, to $750 for a generator for a farmer affected by the bushfires, whatever you can spare will make a difference.
100% of your FUND donation received by GIVIT will be used to purchase the exact items needed for vulnerable people in the community. Wherever possible, we will look to purchase essential items locally. This is an easy way to donate to help people in Bowral, Moss Vale, Mittagong, and the wider Wingicaribee region.
The Southern Highlands Foundation's purpose is to foster giving, generate hope, and strengthen community.
With this in mind, collaborating with GIVIT makes perfect sense. Donating via GIVIT is a simple and transparent way for Southern Highlanders to make a difference in the lives of neighbours in need.
Who you're helping
Below are requests that have recently been made (and donated) by a homelessness service working with vulnerable people across the Southern Highlands.
"Expecting mum who recently escaped domestic violence. Her baby is due in two weeks and she needs baby items."
"A young man has been homeless for 4 years. He has been living in the refuge and had been able to get a transitional property, paying all expenses himself. He has a had a rough go and needs furniture and household essentials."
"This lovely family lost their home and everything they owned in the bushfires. After losing all his work tools, the father's work has been impacted by COVID-19 restrictions. The family has been told it will be years before they can return to their lands and are struggling to maintain rent and mortgage for an asset that no longer exists. I am seeking a few items on behalf of the family to try and start to rebuild their life."
"Family breakdown following a long history of domestic violence. The now single mum and her two children have secured a private rental after months of couch surfing and need support to gather items for their new home."
