Chandima is a 48 years old unmarried English Teacher at  Kaikawala Central College in Sri lanka. She has been been diagnosed with a rare liver disease with internal bleeding which led to a serious heart problem requiring urgent heart surgery with mitral valve repair.


The surgery and post surgery treatment is estimated to cost around Rs.2,428,000 (18,600 CAD).


These days she has to purchase  one of the prescribed liver disease drugs (oral budisonide) which is available only in America. Other heart disease medication has to be purchased from pharmacies in Sri Lanka. Even to purchase these drugs she does not have enough funds. Though Chandima is a school teacher by profession there are days she cannot attend her classes because of her illness. She has accumulated a lot of no-pay leave. Also she had obtained loans to purchase her medication and her net pay now is Rs. 16775.48 (124 CAD)


Chandima had appealed for financial assistance from donars locally to collect funds  through News Papers, Education Dept., and the Hon. Governer of Central  Province in Sri Lanka. She received some funds from overseas too through well wishers. However so far she was able to collect only little amounts of money which is not even sufficient to meet the cost of her day to day medication prescribed by her doctors. She has no movable or unmovable assets.

During the first 4 months of the recovery stage of the operation Chandima needs to bear the expenses for her day to day living, medication, and medical consultations. This amount will be of about Rs.320,000 (3100 CAD) for 4 months therefore the total cost is estimated as Rs. 2,428,000 (18,600 CAD) 

Her life is in danger and she has to collect this money urgently for the surgery. The total funds 18,600 Canadian Dollars will save her life. Over the last 15 years she has to meet around Rs.40,000 (300 CAD) monthly for medicines and laboratory tests.


On behalf of Chandima I took the initiative to launch this GO Fund ME appeal as Chandima and his family (old mother and the mentally retarded brother) are not in a position to do this in Sri Lanka.


I earnestly request all kind hearted and loving people to contribute to this fund in order to save the life of Chandima.
